President Museveni Pledges Action on Compensation and Electric Fencing to Curb Human-Wildlife Conflicts in Nwoya
President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to follow up on the compensation for individuals affected by human-wildlife conflicts in areas surrounding Murchison Falls National Park.

While addressing his second campaign meeting in the Acholi sub-region at Anaka Primary School in Anaka Town Council, Nwoya District, on Tuesday, the NRM presidential candidate assured residents that he would instruct the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, to follow up on the pending compensation claims.
Nwoya District NRM Chairperson Mary Adokorach informed the President that although Shs 11 million had been disbursed, another Shs 48 million meant for registered claimants was yet to be paid.
In response, President Museveni also committed to ensuring the completion of an electric fence around Murchison Falls National Park to prevent wild animals from crossing into nearby communities and destroying crops.
Adokorach had appealed to the President to intervene, noting that elephants from the park continue to invade villages, causing loss of lives and destruction of property. She further mentioned that the government had initiated the fencing project, but it was halted without explanation.
NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, also urged the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities to prioritize addressing the human-wildlife conflict in Nwoya, noting that three sub-counties remain heavily affected.
He emphasized that completing the electric fence would provide a lasting solution to these persistent conflicts.
Later in the day, President Museveni proceeded to hold another rally in Omoro District.
