Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Hails UPDF Air Force Transformation as Over 500 Graduate in Nakasongola

NAKASONGOLA— The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has commended the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Air Force for its remarkable progress and transformation.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony held at the Uganda Air Force College in Nakasongola on Thursday, Gen. Muhoozi highlighted the Air Force’s evolution from its guerrilla origins to becoming one of Africa’s most promising aerial forces.
The event saw the graduation of over 500 personnel, including pilots, instructors, aircraft operators, and engineers, all of whom are now poised to contribute to the UPDF’s ongoing professionalization efforts.
The Uganda Air Force College, located near Nakasongola Air Base with a 3.6-kilometer runway, serves as a major training center for the country’s air force.
In his address, the CDF urged the graduates to pursue excellence, master their aircraft thoroughly, and aim to be among the best pilots on the African continent.
A statement from his office revealed that Gen. Muhoozi also issued a stern warning against corruption, stressing that there would be zero tolerance for the misuse of UPDF funds. His firm stance on accountability was met with applause from both graduates and guests in attendance.
During the visit, Gen. Muhoozi also commissioned new infrastructure projects and housing units for UPDF personnel at the college.
Lt. Gen. Charles Okidi, the Commander of the Air Force, expressed appreciation for the CDF’s leadership and dedication to strengthening Uganda’s air capabilities. Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. James Muhwezi, Commandant of the Uganda Air Force College, applauded the readiness of the graduates and acknowledged the CDF’s role in supporting infrastructure development at the facility.
