23 Senior Officers Transferred and Promoted in Uganda Police Force Shake-Up
IGP Abbas Byakagaba has announced a major reshuffle within the Uganda Police Force, involving the promotion and transfer of 23 senior officers to various key positions.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abbas Byakagaba, has announced a series of transfers and appointments within the Uganda Police Force.
In a statement issued by Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma on Wednesday, it was disclosed that 23 senior officers have been promoted and reassigned to various roles within the force.
This marks the first major reshuffle since IGP Byakagaba assumed office. Among the notable changes, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Joseph Mugisa, the former Director of the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue, who retired in May, has been reassigned to the IGP’s office.
Additional changes include:
Former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Stephen Tanui, has been appointed as the Acting Director of the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue.
SCP Joseph Obwona has been appointed as the Acting Director of Interpol and International Relations, while SCP James Agora has been named the Acting Director of Logistics and Engineering.
Elias Kasirabo, the former Commandant of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit, has been transferred from the Human Resource and Administration Department and appointed as an Attaché to the Uganda High Commission in Nairobi. SCP Yusuf Ssewanyana has been reassigned from ICT to the position of Deputy Director of Interpol.
SCP Frankline Kugonza has been transferred from the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering to the Directorate of Fire Prevention as Deputy Director. Sarah Kibwika has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Director of Human Resource Administration and Management.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Proscovia Achola from the Logistics and Engineering Department has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Director of Force Fleet Management. CP Irene Ameri Kimara, formerly of Logistics and Engineering, has been promoted to the position of Acting Deputy Director of Logistics and Engineering.
CP Simon Peter Okosh, previously with Peace and Support Operations, has been transferred to the Directorate of Operations as Acting Deputy Director of Operations. CP Philip Acaye has been reassigned to the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety as Acting Deputy Director.
CP Moses Muluya has been appointed as the Deputy Director of Welfare, Production, and Sports. CP Agaptus Ecotu from the Directorate of Human Resource Administration has been reassigned to the Field Force Unit as Deputy Commander.
CP Hillary Kulayigye, who has recently completed a course, is the new Acting Deputy Director in the Directorate of Chief Political Commissar.
Several other officers have been redeployed after completing various courses:
CP Benedict Byamugisha has been assigned to the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue as CP Fire Disaster, Training, and Administrative Support Services.
Rosemary Nanyonga has been transferred to the Agriculture Police as Deputy Commander of the Livestock Sector.
CP Michael Nawanga has been reassigned to Interpol and International Relations as CP of International Relations.
CP James Kusemererwa has been transferred to the Directorate of Human Rights and Legal Services as CP of International Relations.
CP David Manzi has been deployed to the Very Important Persons Protection Unit as Commandant.
CP Moses Otala has been appointed as CP of Welfare, and CP Molly Namaye has been reassigned to the Directorate of Operations as CP of Private Security Organizations.
